The Admirals Boys and Girls Club Marine Academy offers hands-on introductions to practical careers in the marine industry such as carpentry, culinary, boat services, and ship building. Based upon the standard Club design, the new 17,000-square-foot facility incorporates modifications for classroom space where participating youth can benefit from special programs. In Broward County alone, the Marine Industry Assocation estimates that there are more than 109,000 marine-related jobs generating more than $8.8 billion in revenues.

The Marine Academy

With a shortage of qualified workers, the Admirals Boys and Girls Club Marine Academy has opened the world of marine careers to young people who otherwise would have absolutely no concept of the opportunities that await them. It is a potential workforce for the industry that has been untapped until now - and a valuable stepping stone for the kids.

Yachting industry guest speakers are invited to chat with the kids about their jobs and, hopefully, offer internships that will give true hands-on experience at various yacht brokerages, shipyards, design companies, and other marine related enterprises. The Marine Academy will serve 1,000 youth per year.
